A fire broke out in the forest in the Deniş Neighborhood of the Soma district at around 12:00 yesterday. The fire spread rapidly due to the rugged terrain conditions and the wind, spreading to the Tekeli Işıklar and Bayat neighborhoods.
Fire Fighting: Gendarmerie teams evacuated 240 houses in 2 neighborhoods and banned entries. Aircraft, helicopters, water tankers, water supply and bulldozer teams were dispatched to the area where the power outage occurred. A total of 122 land vehicles and 334 personnel fought the fire. Work continued throughout the night with the night-vision helicopter that was deployed.
Damage assessment: In the fire, 70 hives belonging to Aydın Aydınlık were damaged in the olive grove in Tekeli Işıklar Neighborhood. The fire was largely brought under control with the intervention of teams from air and land.
Precautions and Current Situation: The fire was brought under control with the support of aircraft that took off in the early hours of the morning. In the following hours, the number of aircraft and helicopters was increased and the intervention continued. Soma Municipality Fire Department and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality teams supported the fire extinguishing efforts.
