Martyr Omer Halisdemir’s Memorial Visit
Citizens who visit the grave of Martyr Ömer Halisdemir pay their respects by praying. Families experience emotional moments by telling their children about Ömer Halisdemir’s heroism.
Former Special Forces Commander retired Lieutenant General Zekai Aksakallı also visited the martyr’s grave and prayed. Aksakallı met with the martyr’s father Hasan Hüseyin, his older brother Doğan and his brother Savaş Halisdemir. On the 8th anniversary of the commemoration of the martyr’s death for his country, Aksakallı said the following: “The whole world should know that there will be no end to the Omer’s in this country. We are a nation in love with our independence. The treason networks abroad and their extensions inside should know that they will never be successful.”
On the other hand, cyclists who set out from Istanbul within the scope of the “8th National Ömer Halisdemir Bicycle Tour” organized by Arnavutköy Municipality reached the grave of the martyr. The athletes poured soil they took from the martyrs’ cemeteries of the cities they passed and prayed on the grave of the martyr.
Tuncay Demir, who came from Istanbul, stated that he named his son, who was born after the coup attempt, “Ömer Halis” and added: “We want the names of our heroes to live on. We love our country. We want my son to keep the names of our martyrs alive. If we exist today, we exist thanks to our martyrs.”
