The fire, which broke out in a cold storage facility in the Elbeyli neighborhood in the morning hours, quickly grew and engulfed the entire building. While the workers were quickly evacuated, the surrounding vehicles were also removed from the area as part of security measures.
A large number of firefighting teams were dispatched to respond to the fire. A total of 15 vehicles were deployed to extinguish the fire, and tankers belonging to BUSKİ, Tarım A.Ş., the Regional Directorate of Forestry and Gemlik, Orhangazi and İznik Municipalities also supported the efforts.
It was determined that the fire started due to an electrical fault, and after two hours of intensive efforts, the flames were brought under control. Cooling efforts are currently ongoing.
