The traces of the treacherous attack at the hotel where President Erdoğan stayed on the day of the coup attempt on July 15, 2016 are still visible. The hotel management has secured the rooms in order not to let anyone forget what happened that night.
Looks Like the Night of July 15th
The closed rooms in the hotel still reflect the events of the night of the coup attempt, even though 8 years have passed. In the room where President Erdoğan stayed, traces of the building where the security police were located and the rooms where the security forces were accommodated are preserved without a trace of dust.
- Leaded door locks and walls
- Broken windows and shattered items
- Broken mirrors and furniture
Blood stains, bullet holes and objects from the clashes in the rooms remind us of the horror of that night. The handcuffs of the guard police who entered the clash during the assassination squad’s attack, and the bed with blood stains reflect the atmosphere of the room.
The room behind President Erdoğan’s room, which has been converted into a mosque, is still full of prayer rugs and prayer beads from that night. The scattered files and papers on the meeting table also continue to bear traces of what happened that night.
Attack and Judicial Process
During the FETO coup attempt, two police officers were martyred in an attack on a hotel in Marmaris. As a result of the search operations launched after the putschists, members of the assassination squad were caught and brought to justice.
