Questions from the public were also answered during the discussion between the two leaders. One participant questioned whether the leaders were truly the best. During the discussion, Sunak emphasized trade agreements with the EU regarding Brexit, while Starmer stated that there would be no return to the EU and that they would fight for better deals.

Starmer questioned Sunak on illegal immigration, while Sunak challenged Starmer on refugee policies. Throughout the discussion, harsh statements were made to each other, and it took place with the participation of the audience.

Despite election polls predicting a Labor victory, this TV debate could be Sunak’s last chance to turn the tables. Both leaders tried to explain their policies and promises in detail.

To sum up, the TV debate between Sunak and Starmer offered voters the opportunity to consider different approaches to policy and leadership and further enlivened the pre-election atmosphere.
