15 People Lost Their Lives in Fires in Diyarbakır and Mardin

(DIYARBAKIR)– The number of people who lost their lives in the fire that broke out on 15 thousand acres of land between Diyarbakır and Mardin has risen to 15. The fire, which started in the Köksalan Neighborhood of the Çınar district of Diyarbakır on the night of June 20, spread to the Yücebağ and Yetkinler neighborhoods in the Mazıdağı district of Mardin due to the effect of the wind.

Among those who lost their lives in the fire are Şehmus Demir, Mazhar Demir, Taliha Demir, Nuri Demir, Rezan Yılmaz, Azad Yılmaz, Resul Yılmaz, Remzi Yılmaz, Abdurrahman Buğdaycı, Ubeydullah Buğdaycı, İsmail Yardımcı, Sinan Deviren, Kerime Erdenli and Fadıl Iron. 73 people affected by the fire were discharged after receiving treatment in hospitals.

The investigation expanded: Following the fire, the investigation process initiated by the Çınar Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office was expanded. Whether the cause of the incident was a stubble fire or Dicle Elektrik’s power transmission lines will be clarified through expert reports and witness statements.
