According to the news reported by Yemen’s official news agency SABA, an unnamed official from the Saudi Arabia-backed Aden-based Yemeni government condemned Israel’s attack on the Hudaydah Port in a written statement.

“The legitimate government condemns in the strongest terms the Zionist regime’s (Israel) aggression and violation of the sovereignty of Yemeni lands,” the statement said.

The statement said that Israel’s attack violated international laws and norms, and added: “The legitimate government holds the Zionist regime fully responsible for all consequences resulting from the air strikes, including the deepening of the humanitarian crisis.”

In addition, the statement emphasized that the attacks of the Houthis based in Sanaa on international shipping lines were described as “terrorism” and that this attack by Israel strengthened the Houthis’ position.

Claiming that Yemen and its people were being used as instruments for Iran’s expansionist goals, it warned against any attempts by Iran and Israel to turn Yemeni territory into “an arena for senseless wars and destructive projects in the region through militias.”

In addition, the international community and the United Nations Security Council were called upon to maintain international security and peace.
