Protest Against Workers’ Massacre in Izmir Cigli Municipality
The massacres of workers in CHP municipalities continue in Izmir Çiğli Municipality. In this context, 147 dismissed workers continue their protests to demand their rights.
A group of dismissed workers came to the hall where the event organized by the CHP’s Women’s Branch was held and tried to make their voices heard. However, the workers in this group were removed from the hall. This incident further fueled the discussions behind the dismissals at the municipality.
It was also learned that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security has launched an investigation into 147 dismissed workers. It was reported that the Ministry assigned an inspector to conduct the necessary investigations on July 30. This situation is considered an important step in terms of investigating the loss of rights experienced by the workers.
While these developments question the approach of local governments to workers’ rights, they once again reveal how important job security is in municipalities.
