Water Administration Workers Union President Süleyman Malasa, in a statement to AA, evaluated the protest held due to Israel increasing water cuts. Malasa stated that they demanded pressure be put on Israel, and emphasized that Israel increased the cuts despite the increased need for water in the summer months.

Malasa stated that while 6 years ago 67 thousand subscribers were allocated 35 thousand cubic meters of water, today the amount has been reduced to 30 cubic meters for 83 thousand subscribers. Malasa also stated that the Israelis, who have usurped Palestinian lands in the West Bank, are attacking Palestinian wells and destroying water resources, and drew attention to the attacks on employees working in water works.

Malasa, who stated that water cuts reached 35 percent in the cities of Beit Lahim and Hebron, and 50 percent in Ramallah and Jerusalem, together with the Jerusalem Water Authority officials who participated in the protest, said that according to the Palestinian Statistical Institute data, the average daily water consumption of a Palestinian is 85.7 liters.
