Vehicles that have been seized for various reasons have been left waiting in trustee parking lots in Antalya for years. It is observed that most of the vehicles in these parking lots, where thousands of cars and motorcycles are located in the city center, have started to decay over time.

The vehicles in the open area, which are faced with hot weather in the summer and rain in the winter, are affected by neglect. In trustees, where there are luxury cars worth $1 million, business owners state that the ‘6-month’ rule of the enforcement and bankruptcy law could be implemented more effectively.

Thousands of Vehicles Wait in Parking Lots

Antalya Car Park Owners and Car Washers Association President Hakan Topçu announced that 3 thousand vehicles are kept in a total area of 30 thousand square meters in 3 different car parks in the city. 80 percent of these vehicles have been detained through enforcement, while 20 percent have been banned from traffic.

Topçu stated that there were even vehicles that had been kept for more than 20 years, and emphasized that vehicles seized through enforcement proceedings should be sold by the enforcement agency if their owners did not buy them within a certain period of time. He stated that the vehicles decayed during this process and a national treasure was wasted.

Request for Amendment to the Execution and Bankruptcy Law for Solution

Association President Topçu stated that 60 percent of the vehicles in the parking lots are idle and 40 percent are still usable. Therefore, he emphasized that expired vehicles should be sold quickly and added to the economy.

Topçu said that there should be a radical change in the enforcement and bankruptcy law and that the rule that “vehicles that are not purchased within 6 months are sold” should be made effective. He stated that in this way, money will come into the state’s coffers and a positive contribution will be made to the economy.

Topçu also touched on the situation of seized motorcycles in parking lots, stating that the expenses required to sell low-value motorcycles seized through enforcement are disproportionate. He stated that this situation causes the motorcycles to rot and turn into scrap.

He also stated that luxury motorcycles can be sold, while low-value ones should be marked as unsellable, and emphasized that vehicles with economic value should be brought into the economy.
