Speaking at a press conference following the NATO Summit held in Washington, the capital of the United States this year, President Biden made statements regarding the temporary port project established on the coast of Gaza. Answering questions from reporters, Biden expressed his disappointment that the project did not achieve the expected success.

“I was hoping the project would be more successful,” Biden said, after the temporary port, which was disabled twice due to adverse weather conditions, failed to produce the desired results in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

In his State of the Union address on March 7, US President Biden announced that a temporary port would be sent to the region to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. It was stated that this step aimed to overcome the obstacles on Israel’s land border that made it difficult to deliver humanitarian aid.

The JLOTS floating pier system, which was launched as a result of the process initiated by the Pentagon, reached the coast of Gaza and became operational. However, the pier, which was damaged by a storm on May 25, was repaired in Israel and then re-established in Gaza.
