In a statement made by the Ministry of Health officials, it was stated that the electricity needs of hospitals in Gaza have been met by generators for about 9 months. However, it was stated that many generators were destroyed as a result of the attacks of the occupying Israeli army and the remaining ones were inoperable due to major technical failures.
The statement warned that several generators in hospitals would be out of service due to the lack of spare parts, and that this could mean “certain death” for patients. An “emergency” call was made to the international community and organizations, as well as Arab and Islamic countries, requesting that generators be provided to hospitals in the region.
Ministry officials emphasized that the Israeli army aims to disable generators in order to collapse the health system in Gaza, and stated that generators in the Shifa Health Complex, Nasser Hospital, and Indonesia Hospital were previously rendered unusable. Now, it is the turn of the generators in the Kemal Advan Hospital in the north.
The Ministry of Health reported that despite Israel’s obstacles, international institutions have been contacted for the supply of generators, but no results have been received yet.
