UN Warns of Destruction in Gaza Strip

Birleşmiş Milletler'den Gazze Şeridi'ndeki Yıkım Hakkında Uyarı

The United Nations (UN) has issued an important warning about the extent of the destruction following the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. In a statement made by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), it was stated that 40 million tons of rubble have accumulated in Gaza as a result of the attacks that have continued since October 7.

It was emphasized that the removal of the rubble piles could take more than 15 years. However, it was also stated that the cost of removing the rubble could exceed 500 million dollars. According to the information shared by UNRWA, it was emphasized that the rubble poses serious dangers to Palestinians in Gaza because it could contain unexploded ordnance and harmful materials.

The statement also stated that 38,664 Palestinians, mostly women and children, lost their lives and 89,097 people were injured as a result of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza. It was emphasized that the Gaza Strip had largely been reduced to ruins during this process and that the need for urgent aid had increased.
