UEFA, which penalized Merih Demiral for making the “grey wolf” sign as a symbol of Turkishness, has created a new scandal.
Bosnian team Sarajevo wanted to enter the pitch with the Srebrenica Flower tattooed on their chests in memory of those who lost their lives in the genocide during their Conference League match against Aktobe. However, UEFA rejected this request and only allowed the players to enter the pitch with black arm bands.
Sarajevo players were forced to cover the ‘Srebrenica Flower’ on their jerseys with black tape due to the threat of sanctions from UEFA.
After this decision, football fans reacted to UEFA on social media with the hashtag “Mafia”.
