Beyoğlu'nda

Beyoğlu Municipality hosts the “Turkish Women Pioneers” exhibition organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Istanbul. In the exhibition, the migration stories and success stories of the first Turkish female immigrants meet art lovers.

The opening of the “Turkish Women Pioneers” exhibition, organized within the framework of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the labor agreement between Turkey and the Netherlands and the migration of Turkish workers from Emirdağ to the Netherlands, took place at the Art Gallery of the Mayor’s Building of Beyoğlu Municipality. The exhibition consists of 26 portrait works by photographers Bertien van Manen, Bercis G. Metz, Muhammet Sağ and Çiğdem Yüksel.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney stated that they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the 60th anniversary of deepening cultural exchange. Talking about the historical ties of Istiklal Street, Güney emphasized that the exhibition brought to light an important social and cultural event by illuminating the migration and success stories of Turkish women.

The “Turkish Women Pioneers” exhibition brings together the stories and achievements of brave women who immigrated from Turkey’s Emirdağ district to the Netherlands with art lovers, drawing attention to the importance of friendship and cultural relations dating back 60 years.
