The event, organized at the Taksim Mosque Culture and Arts Center, was organized by the Turkish Arab Art House, the Turkish Arab Association and the Arab Community Union. The program brought together many artists and art lovers from Turkey and abroad. The exhibition hosted events such as painting, photography and ceramic works, as well as painting workshops, music and poetry recitals. In addition, prayers were said for Palestine.

About the Event

Turkish Arab Association President Metin Turan emphasized the program’s aim to bring Turkish and Arab artists together, and stated that the works of painters, photographers and poets were exhibited at the event. Turan thanked the Taksim Mosque Culture and Arts Center and said that Gaza and the Arab world were on the agenda during the event. He stated that Turkish and Palestinian artists gave messages to the world with their works in the program.

Painter Eylül Duru stated that she wanted to draw attention to the genocide in Gaza by taking part in the program. Duru, who said, “No to genocide, yes to peace,” stated that she tried to tell the story of the suffering experienced by Palestinians with her painting, Nekba. She said that she donated the income from her works to Gaza and wished for peace.

Emotions Expressed by Artist Emel Sabah

Syrian-born ceramic and painting artist Emel Sabah stated that she continued to practice her art and taught Arabic to students after coming to Turkey. Sabah, who stated that she dedicated her works to children and that she loved Istanbul very much, expressed that her feelings towards Palestine were reflected in her works. She said that she prayed for Palestine and Jerusalem and hoped for the end of oppression.
