Statement from Alparslan Türkeş’s Son Türkeş
AK Party Ankara Deputy Tuğrul Türkeş rejected the accusations made regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Sinan Ateş, and stated, “The Nationalist Movement Party (My Father’s Party) cannot be identified with such a crime.” In his statement on his social media account, Türkeş emphasized that the assassination was an individual crime and stated that it could not be associated with a political incident.

Sinan Ateş’s wife Ayşe Ateş and her sister Selma Ateş responded to Türkeş’s statements on social media. While Ayşe Ateş stated that the crime was limited to individuals and that all those responsible should be tried fairly, Selma Ateş criticized Türkeş for not expressing her condolences.
