The President of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, made important statements regarding the studies carried out to update Turkey’s earthquake hazard map. Mandal stated that as a result of the studies carried out with the participation of 22 universities, 100 researchers and 90 students, all active fault lines of Turkey will be shared with the public by 2025.

Within the scope of the “Earthquake Hazard Map of Turkey” update studies established under the leadership of TÜBİTAK, with the cooperation of Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA), Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB) and 22 universities, the Research Platform for Determination of Paleoseismological Characteristics of Active Faults of Turkey is operating. The platform continues its studies on 128 active faults at 19 different points.
