The Parliament will be working on a very busy schedule this week to address important issues. Tax and social security bills, including raising the minimum retirement pension to 12,500 TL, will be discussed in the General Assembly.
Pension Regulation and Increase Differences
With the income tax proposal on the agenda of the General Assembly, the lowest retirement salary will be increased from 10,000 TL to 12,500 TL. 3 million 703 thousand people will benefit from this regulation. In addition, it is proposed to increase the exit tax from 150 TL to 500 TL. After the proposal becomes law, retirees will be able to receive their July increase differences in the first week of August.
9. Judicial Package
The Bill of Law on Amendments to Certain Laws, known to the public as the “9th Judiciary Package”, will also be discussed this week. According to the bill, a woman will take her husband’s surname when she gets married and will be able to use her previous surname in addition to her husband’s surname upon written application to the marriage officer or the civil registry office.
Stray Animals
The Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Committee will discuss the Bill of Law Amending the Animal Protection Law, which includes regulations regarding stray animals. According to the bill, it includes the “euthanasia” of aggressive, contagious or incurable animals by local governments.
Consumer rights
The Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission will discuss the Bill of Law on the Amendment of the Law on the Protection of Consumers and Certain Laws. According to this proposal, contracts between creditors and consumers can be concluded via information or electronic communication devices.
