The suspect named HK, who defrauded an old woman in Çorum by pretending to be a gendarmerie personnel, was caught by the police teams. The incident took place on Bahçelievler Şenyurt Street.
According to the information obtained, the person named HK (34) called the woman named ZM (76) and introduced himself as a gendarmerie personnel. The person defrauded the woman by telling her that her husband had been arrested and that she had to give them the jewelry and money at home.
The old woman fulfilled the suspect’s request and delivered 4 bracelets, 2 earrings and 2 thousand 650 TL. Realizing that he had been defrauded, ZM reported the situation to the police. Çorum Provincial Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Fraud Bureau launched an investigation into the incident.
Police teams determined that HK was a suspect as a result of the investigation. The suspect was caught by police teams at the bus station while trying to escape from Çorum and detained. During the search conducted on the person, 7,260 TL in cash and 2 gold earrings were seized.
