The fire, which broke out in agricultural lands on Çalıköy road in Edirne’s Uzunköprü district, was taken under control before it spread to the forest area, thanks to the rapid and effective intervention.
The fire started in agricultural land around 13:00 today and spread rapidly due to the strong wind. After the first intervention of the villagers in the region, fire brigades were notified. With the coordinated work of Uzunköprü Fire Department, Edirne Special Provincial Administration, Meriç Municipality and Küplü Municipality fire teams, the fire was taken under control after a fight of approximately 2 hours.
With great efforts and rapid intervention to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest area, the teams prevented a possible major disaster. Uzunköprü District Gendarmerie Command and fire brigades launched a large-scale investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
In the first investigations after the fire was extinguished, it was determined that approximately 100 decares of agricultural land was damaged.
