NEGATIVE AFFECT OF THE DAM CONSTRUCTED ON KARS STREAM ON ÇAMÇAVUŞ VILLAGE
CHP Kars Deputy İnan Akgün Alp stated that the dam built on the Kars Stream had a negative impact on life in the Çamçavuş village of Susuz district of Kars. While the people living in the village are struggling with environmental problems, the beauties of the village are in danger of disappearing.
AN EXEMPLARY STORY OF THE SOCIAL ECOLOGY STRUGGLE: ÇAMÇAVUŞ VILLAGE
The dam built on the Kars Stream passing through the village turned the social life of the villagers upside down. The villagers had to move to new residential areas, but the problems did not end there. Living standards in the village have declined rapidly due to lack of sewage, cracked houses and pollution.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS AND DECLINE IN QUALITY OF LIFE
As a result of the pollution carried by the Kars Stream, industrial wastes and sewage wastes being poured into the dam, the surroundings of the dam are filled with sewage odors. Access to the living areas of the village has become difficult, and basic needs such as grazing animals and access to cemeteries have become unmet.
INFLUENCE OF AK PARTY GOVERNMENTS AND MIGRATION
As a result of the policies of the AK Party governments for 20 years, a serious migration began in the village. While the young population avoids staying in the village, the elderly and seasonal immigrants continue to stay in the village. The villagers show resistance against the problems they experience and continue their struggle.
