Incident Details
In the incident that took place in the Gülbahçesi Neighborhood on July 5, Abbas Casim, 5, from the Casim family of 6 Syrian nationals, was attacked by street dogs while playing in the orange grove near their home. Abbas, who was seriously injured, was found lying on the ground covered in blood with wounds on various parts of his body.
Noticing Abbas’ condition, his mother informed his father, Hasan Casim. Father Hasan Casim immediately took action to take his son to the hospital after finding him covered in blood. Abbas was first referred to the 5 Ocak State Hospital, then to the Yüreğir State Hospital and finally to the Adana City Training and Research Hospital.
Abbas, who fought a long battle for his life, was recovered from his wounds with stitches and was discharged from the hospital after 18 days. However, after the attack, the other children also started to go out into the garden in fear and the family went through a worrying period.
Father Hasan Casim said, “After what happened to Abbas, our other children are very scared. They are now afraid to go out into the garden. It is a worrying situation for us. The dogs are still wandering around.”
Abbas stated that he still remembers the moment of the attack and is afraid. Abbas, who returned home after completing treatment with his family, continues to receive support to overcome the trauma he experienced after the dog attack.
