Support to the Handicrafts Education Center in Dakar within the Scope of the African Culture House Project Under the Patronage of Emine Erdoğan

Within the scope of the “African Culture House Project” carried out under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife Emine Erdoğan, equipment support was provided to the Handicrafts Education Center in Dakar and new workshops were opened at the center. Speaking in French, Minister Göktaş stated that he was at the ceremony on behalf of Emine Erdoğan and expressed that Turkey was happy to contribute to the development of Senegal’s handicrafts.

Minister Göktaş, who stated that new equipment and workshops were provided to the Dakar Handicrafts Training Center with the contributions of TİKA, emphasized the importance of the center providing economic support to the development of Senegal’s handicrafts and its trainees. Stating that the project will contribute greatly to the economic independence of women, Göktaş explained that this project was implemented in Senegal for the first time in Africa.

Minister Göktaş drew attention to the importance Emine Erdoğan attached to Africa, while Senegal Tourism and Handicrafts Minister Mountaga Diao emphasized the close relations between Turkey and Senegal, expressing satisfaction with Turkey’s contributions to the development of the country’s handicrafts. Diao stated that the project will make a significant contribution to the development of handicrafts in Senegal.

Following the speeches, Ministers Göktaş and Diao inaugurated the new workshops and commissioned the new equipment. Minister Göktaş, who was among the speakers who were held by women on duty due to the hot weather, requested that no umbrellas be held. The ceremony was also attended by Turkey’s Dakar Ambassador Nur Sağman, TİKA Vice President Rahman Nurdan, African Culture House President Zeliha Sağlam and other officials.
