The sturgeon, which has existed on earth for about 200 million years, is in danger of extinction despite being of great importance in terms of biodiversity. There are 5 different species of this valuable species known and unfortunately 2 species are extinct. It is known that efforts are being made to protect their species by breeding them through the efforts of universities.

Turkish Underwater Sports Federation Diving Instructor and Underwater Photographer Hakan Güney managed to photograph a 30-centimeter-long baby sturgeon at a depth of 10 meters. While explaining their underwater work, Güney stated that sturgeon is a rare species and is usually seen in pool environments or in old sources. Emphasizing that Ordu is the only place where diving is actively done in the Black Sea Region, he provided information about the colorfulness and diversity of the region’s underwater life.

Hakan Güney stated that the sturgeon existed before the dinosaur era and was a rare creature. He stated that the underwater sciences faculties of universities are struggling to prevent the extinction of the sturgeon, of which there are 5 different species known in the world.

Güney, who stated that there are many people who want to photograph the sturgeon, said that the photos he shared with experts received positive reactions and that visitors from outside the province came to the region just to see the sturgeon. He stated that this situation made him and his team happy.
