Bahçelievler Mayor Hakan Bahadır made a statement as a result of the investigations regarding the partial collapse that occurred on the roof of a 4-storey building in Bahçelievler Hürriyet District.
Bahadır stated that the reason for the collapse of the roof was the water ingress of the upper floor balcony and temperature changes. Bahadır stated that the columns and beams of the building were intact in the preliminary examination and that the final result will be clarified with the core test.
While there was no loss of life or injury in the incident, Bahadır stated that the residents of the building should not be evacuated. Emphasizing that neighborhood relations are also effective, Bahadır drew attention to the importance of urban transformation. Stating that it is important to renew your building just as you change your house, Bahadır touched upon the importance of getting rid of rotten buildings and choosing solid structures.
Bahadır said, “Let’s get rid of the rotten buildings and move to solid buildings, even if they are small. Since there is no cause for concern, evacuation was not deemed necessary. However, I would like to state that evacuation will be carried out when necessary.”
