According to Yonhap news agency, South Korea’s deputy foreign minister Kang In Sun , held a key meeting to comprehensively assess the security situation in the Middle East and determine measures to protect South Korean citizens in the region. At the meeting, Kang said, “We strongly recommend that South Korean citizens living in Lebanon and Israel leave these countries as soon as possible using available flights.”

Kang also emphasized that missions abroad have also been warned to ensure the safety of South Korean citizens in the event of a possible emergency. In this context, it was stated that South Korea has increased its international security measures and made the safety of its citizens a priority.

The meeting also included approximately 350, while in Lebanon 130 It was reported that there are around 1,000 South Korean citizens. The South Korean government stated that they are closely monitoring the situation of these citizens and are ready to provide all necessary assistance.

On the other hand, Israel, which has increased its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has also been experiencing clashes with Lebanese Hezbollah on its northern border. Israel’s holding the Hezbollah Movement responsible for the attack on the town of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights on July 27 has further escalated tensions in the region.
