Six individuals were discovered deceased on Tuesday in a hotel room at the prestigious Grand Hyatt located in downtown Bangkok. Authorities suspect the cause of death to be poisoning. The victims included two American individuals of Vietnamese descent and four Vietnamese nationals, as confirmed by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. Police investigations revealed that three of the deceased were men and three were women.

According to Police Maj. Gen. Theeradej Thumsuthee, chief investigator of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, initial observations at the scene suggested that the victims might have been poisoned. It was noted that all six individuals had consumed coffee or tea. The preliminary autopsy did not show any signs of physical injuries. A guide is currently being interrogated in connection with the incident.

Police Lt. Gen. Thiti Saengsawang, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, stated that there were no indications of a struggle in the hotel room. The bodies were discovered in the same suite, where all six victims were scheduled to check out on the day of their demise, with their bags already packed.

Although Bangkok is not typically associated with mass violence, the city faced a tragic shooting incident last October when a 14-year-old shooter opened fire in a luxury shopping mall, resulting in the deaths of three individuals.
