The murder case of former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Sinan Ateş, who was assassinated in Ankara on December 30, 2022, will be heard on July 1. Before the trial, which attracted public attention, MHP’s founder Alparslan Türkeş’s son, AK Party Ankara Deputy Tuğrul Türkeş , made a statement for the first time about the murder of Sinan Ateş.
Statements of Tuğrul Türkeş
While Tuğrul Türkeş stated that murder is a serious crime, he emphasized that the issue has no ideological aspect. Türkeş also touched upon the accusation that “Ülkü Ocakları will surround the courthouse on July 1, and Özgür Özel will not be allowed to enter” and stated that there is no ideological aspect in preventing those who want to attend the hearing.
Türkeş also stated that Turkish nationalism cannot be identified with this crime, MHP cannot be associated with such a crime institutionally, and the People’s Alliance should stay away from such criminal organizations. Türkeş emphasized that justice should be ensured and the peace of the country should be protected, and that the criminals should be held accountable before justice.
Türkeş’s statements are considered as a development that is carefully followed by the public before the Sinan Ateş murder trial. It is expected that the litigation process will proceed in a fair and transparent manner and justice will be served.
