Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in May that Russia had established a buffer zone to protect Ukraine’s border with the Kharkiv region. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement today, “It will take time to accomplish this task. Our work on this issue continues.”

Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced today that one person was killed and seven were injured in an airstrike by Ukraine on the Russian border town of Shebekino. It was reported that a multi-storey building, a shopping centre and 20 vehicles were damaged in the attack.
