CHP Women’s Branch 15th Ordinary Congress
CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozel , attended the 15th Ordinary Congress of the CHP Women’s Branch held at the Ankara ATO Congresium. As Özel took the stage to give the opening speech at the congress, she was protested with whistles by a group of workers who claimed that they were unfairly dismissed from their jobs at the Çiğli Municipality in İzmir.
Özgür Özel, who came on stage during the protest, responded to the action by saying, “Do not use the women’s branch congress for other purposes. While there is a women’s organization here to receive the reward of a long labor, it is not right to mix another voice with theirs.”He made a statement as follows.
After Özel responded to the protesters, security guards at the congress had to remove the workers from the hall. While the workers were being removed, a brief argument broke out between the security guards and the workers. This incident caused tense moments in the congress atmosphere.
