President Erdoğan Attended Başakşehir Football Academy and Kupa Meydanı Opening Program

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Football Academy and Cup Square Opening Program held at Başakşehir Football Club Facilities. Making important statements in the program, Erdoğan emphasized the future and development of Turkish football.

He expressed his hope that with the opening of the Football Academy, the success graph of İstanbul Başakşehir could rise even higher.

Stating that hooliganism, hostility and ideology harm the spirit of football, he said that such negativities should be removed from the sports field.

He stated that they had completely renewed the country’s sports infrastructure and that many teams lacked modern stadiums.
He announced that they increased the number of stadiums in the province and district from 277 to 346.
He stated that in order for success to be permanent, hard work alone will not be enough and a change in mentality is required.
He stated that football is more than just a competition played on the field and that industrialization brings with it serious problems.
He stated that fans have high expectations from their teams and that it is difficult for financially troubled clubs to achieve sporting success.

He stated that in order to carry Turkish football further, they had to make the biggest investment in human resources.
He emphasized that the decrease in the number of young football players playing in the Super League is a bottleneck in the training of new football players and that this bottleneck needs to be resolved.

He evaluated the academy named after Mahmut Tekdemir, who played football for Istanbul Başakşehir, as an example of loyalty and wished success to the young people who will receive education there.
