Court Hearing Started
The trial of Engin Polat, demanding a prison sentence of up to 9 years, has begun on the allegation that the number of Halil İbrahim Kalkan, who made a phone call to reach his workplace in Istanbul in 2023, was unlawfully announced. The hearing was held at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
Complainant and Lawyers Were Present at the Hearing
Complainant Halil İbrahim Kalkan and party lawyers attended the hearing. Engin Polat could not connect to the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System.
Statements and Requests of Complainant Kalkan
Complainant Kalkan said at the hearing, “I was at my company in Pendik on the day of the incident. My images were taken without my knowledge. I have a complaint against Engin Polat and other persons.” he said
Defense of the Defendant’s Lawyer
Defendant Engin Polat’s lawyer stated that the Pendik branch that was searched did not belong to his client and that his client was not the owner of the branch. He stated that they would make a detailed defense after the defense.
Interim Decision and Postponement of the Hearing
The court postponed the hearing by ordering a letter to be written to the prison so that the defendant Engin Polat could participate via SEGBİS.
