Meeting Between Sudani and Blinken
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Sudani held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which the two sides discussed Iraq’s critical role in strengthening international peace and stability.
According to the statement, Blinken requested that the Washington administration play an active role in Iraq “in taking control of the situation in the region and preventing tensions between the parties.” In this context, he emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to support regional stability and peace.
Prime Minister Sudani, on the other hand, stated that Israel’s attacks should be stopped immediately, and said, “Preventing tension in the region is directly related to ending the attacks on Gaza and preventing this situation from spreading to Lebanon.”
Sudani stated that “the government of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu must be deterred and brought under control” and stressed that attacks by Zionist occupying forces against regional countries must be prevented. He also drew attention to the fact that international law and state sovereignty must not be violated.
Prime Minister Sudani warned the international community not to “spread the conflict and expand the crises.”
