Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh Press Conference
Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh, speaking to reporters at a closed-door news conference, said the floating dock is stationed in the Israeli port of Ashdod and conditions are not suitable for it to be moored over the weekend. Therefore, the dock will remain in the port of Ashdod.
Singh, who stated that the aid currently on Greek Cypriot or US ships will reach the people of Gaza, said that this will happen via the temporary pier or Ashdod. Singh, who stated that commanders are evaluating whether the pier will be re-moored, said that the weather conditions over the weekend did not allow for this and emphasized that an update will be given on the issue this week.
Singh described the operation as a success, saying they had transported around £20 million worth of aid through the floating pier so far. Reminding that the pier was temporary from the start, Singh said that towards the end of the summer, sea conditions would not allow the temporary port to operate.
Reaction to Trump Assassination Attempt
Recalling the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, Singh stressed that “such acts of violence have no place in our democracy. He stated that differences in America cannot be resolved this way.”
US Reconfirms Bomb Shipments to Israel
Singh, who reaffirmed that the shipment of approximately 227 kilograms of bombs to Israel has begun, stated that he did not have information on whether the US-made JDAM missile was used in Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip. It was reported that the US President Joe Biden administration has resumed the shipment of bombs, which it had stopped for about 2 months, and has started sending approximately 227 kilograms of bombs to Israel.
