Police arrived near the campus after the university sent a warning to Palestinian supporters to evacuate the camp, CBC News reported. Students supporting Palestine removed tents they had set up on campus.
The university administration claimed that most of the people in the camp were “not students” and stated that almost all of the 35 people who set up tents chose to leave without causing any problems. Some protesters who did not want to leave the camp were removed from the campus by the police, while one person was detained.
While demonstrations in support of Palestine were held at many universities in the United States, students began protesting by setting up a camp at McGill, one of Canada’s leading universities, on April 27.
