According to the Dawn newspaper, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and representatives of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan Party (TLP) held a joint press conference in the country’s capital Islamabad.
Following the TLP’s week-long demonstrations in support of Gaza, the Pakistani government sat at the table with the party and it was stated that the parties reached an agreement as a result of the meeting.
Agreement Details
- The Pakistani government will officially recognize the Israeli Prime Minister as a “terrorist” and call on the international community to do the same.
- As part of the agreement, the Pakistani government announced that it would step up support for Palestinian victims of Israeli oppression.
- Sanaullah, who announced that more than 1,000 tons of food and medicine will be shipped to Palestine by July 31, said that the government also agreed to provide medical aid to the Palestinian people and to send medical personnel to the region.
- Demanding the trial of Netanyahu, Sanaullah stated, “Netanyahu is a terrorist and the perpetrator of war crimes,” and then demanded that the international community recognize Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as a terrorist.
- A committee was established to identify and boycott companies that support Israel.
- Congratulating the TLP’s passion for the Palestinian people, Sanaullah noted that the government agreed with the party to accelerate efforts for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, who is detained in the United States.
Additional Information
Stating that they will boycott not only Israel, but all products associated with Israel and companies that are directly or indirectly involved in or aiding this oppression, Sanaullah called on the international community to hold Netanyahu accountable for his actions and bring him to justice.
Following the agreement, TLP had ended its protest in the Faizabad district of Rawalpindi city the previous evening.
