Independence Day Message of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari

Pakistan İslam Cumhuriyeti Cumhurbaşkanı Asıf Ali Zardari'nin Bağımsızlık Günü Mesajı

Dear Pakistanis,

On the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our entire nation. Today marks a significant milestone in the historic struggle of the Muslims of India for their right to self-determination. The establishment of Pakistan through a peaceful and democratic struggle has been recorded in the pages of history as an unparalleled achievement. Today, we pay our deepest respects to the leaders of the Pakistan movement, to those who have made great efforts and countless sacrifices for this land.

On this meaningful day, we must put aside our differences and work resolutely for the unity, integrity and economic stability of our country in the face of current challenges. Our country is filled with rich human resources and natural resources, and it is our responsibility to use them effectively for the welfare of our people. We must defend the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions and work resolutely to serve the public interest. Our nation expects great success from us, and we must relentlessly strive to meet their expectations.

Our Quaid-e-Azam’s words “If we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous, we should focus entirely and solely on the welfare of the people, especially the masses and the poor” should be our guide. It is high time we invest in our youth and women, improve service delivery and create a business friendly environment to make Pakistan a great nation.

As we celebrate our freedom, we must not forget our Kashmiri and Palestinian brothers and sisters who have been fighting for their freedom and self-determination for over 70 years. Pakistan reiterates its support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, which are under Indian illegal occupation, for their legitimate rights. Let us work absolutely for the upliftment of our people and for Pakistan to become a more prosperous country. May Allah help us. Amen!

Independence Day Message of Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif

Pakistan İslam Cumhuriyeti Başbakanı Şahbaz Şerif'in Bağımsızlık Günü Mesajı

Dear Pakistanis,

As Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif, I extend my heartiest congratulations to all the people of Pakistan at home and abroad on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. We respectfully remember the sacrifices of our forefathers and the countless heroes of the Pakistan Movement who fought for an independent country where millions of people in South Asia could live according to their faith and values. As predicted by Allama Mohammad Iqbal, on August 14, 1947, thanks to the determined leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the sacrifices of our forefathers, Pakistan found a place on the world map as an independent and sovereign state.

Thanks to the sacrifices of our founding fathers, Pakistan has been able to overcome the challenges it faced during its founding. Over the decades, our country has achieved several milestones and has been able to cope with natural disasters and economic hardships thanks to the resilience of our people. However, our determination and unity have always prevailed.

I also appreciate the role of our overseas Pakistanis in the progress of our country. Wherever you are, you are an integral part of this country. We are proud of your achievements and hard work. We see you as true ambassadors of Pakistan.

On this special day, I also thank our armed forces who protect our borders and sovereignty. Their sacrifices deserve the utmost respect and appreciation. As we celebrate our freedom, we also remember the brave people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, which have been fighting for their right to self-determination for over 70 years and have been facing state terrorism. Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which is under Indian Illegally Occupied, until they achieve universal right to self-determination. Our support to the Palestinians will also continue for their legitimate rights.

Today, Pakistan is at a significant turning point. While our shared values, rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions hold us together, our economy also faces significant challenges such as inflation, high energy costs, unemployment and rising debt burden. Since we came to power after the February 2024 elections, our focus has been on creating the conditions for economic growth and stability. Pakistan’s rich natural resources and young workforce are our real assets. We aim to create job opportunities, accelerate industrialization and achieve economic prosperity by fully leveraging these resources.

In addition, developing the education and skills of our youth, equipping them with the tools they need in a competitive global economy are among the government’s priorities. I personally oversee national efforts to digitize the entire ecosystem and expand the tax base. This will allow us to provide relief to those who already pay taxes.

In a short time, our efforts have begun to yield positive results. Our economy is moving towards stability; the high inflation rate of 38% is on track to drop to single digits, down to 11.1% (July). We are also working hard to reduce electricity prices, and our people will soon see tangible results.

Together, we are determined to continue our journey in the spirit of independence for the benefit and well-being of our citizens. Through our joint efforts, we will work for an inclusive and prosperous Pakistan as envisioned by our founders; This is critical for us and our future generations.

Happy Independence Day!
