Operations continue against terrorist sympathizers who chant slogans and dance the halay in support of the terrorist organization PKK and its leader Abdullah Öcalan on social media platforms. First, 11 suspects were detained in the footage shot in Mersin. Within the scope of the investigations conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices throughout Turkey; 11 of the 18 suspects detained in Istanbul were arrested, and 4 of the 5 suspects detained in Siirt were arrested.
CHP’s Sezgin Tanrikulu’s Statements
CHP Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu supported those who were dancing the halay chanting slogans for Öcalan in order to support terrorist sympathizers. Sharing the footage of the halay he was dancing with DEM Party members, Tanrıkulu said, “We will not give up on the halay. Let’s continue the halay.”
DEM Party’s Reactions
DEM Party member Leyla Zana also voiced her reaction to the arrest warrants on social media. Zana had made threats by saying, “Do not push the Kurds’ boundaries! If you are thinking of bringing us all out into the squares and squares with Kurdish songs, drums, zurna and our slogans, we are happy to come!”
