Effects of Monsoon Rains Continue in Pakistan

Zaheer Ahmed Babar from the Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the monsoon rains affecting different parts of the country will continue throughout the next week. He said that these rains have had serious consequences, especially in the Punjab region, and that 24 people lost their lives as a result of the heavy rains in the last 24 hours.

Irfan Ali, an official of the Punjab Regional Disaster Management Authority, said that a total of 209 people have lost their lives due to heavy rainfall since July. According to information from the National Disaster Management Authority, floods and landslides occurred in some areas due to the rainfall and more than 2,200 houses were damaged. This created a serious crisis that negatively affected the lives of the local people.

Authorities said the highest number of casualties occurred in the provinces of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. They also said that some roads and bridges were damaged due to landslides and flash floods, which disrupted traffic in the region. Officials stressed that efforts were underway to normalize events, and drew attention to the seriousness of the situation in the region.

The Pakistani government has advised tourists not to visit areas adversely affected by the rains, in a statement. This advice was made to ensure the safety of both locals and visitors.
