Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya made a statement about the traffic accidents that occurred on the seventh day of the Eid al-Adha holiday. Minister Yerlikaya stated that a total of 62 people have lost their lives since the start of the holiday.
In his post on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya shared detailed information about the inspections and traffic accidents carried out during the holiday. Emphasizing that speed inspections continue day and night during the holiday, Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of being careful during the checks carried out on a 24-hour basis.
Stating that 13 people died in traffic accidents that occurred on the seventh day of the holiday, Minister Yerlikaya shared that 597 traffic accidents occurred on the same day and 1.07 people were injured. He also stated that 406 thousand 165 vehicles were inspected, speed and radar procedures were applied to 21 thousand 129 vehicles, and other procedures were carried out on 39 thousand 21 vehicles.
Minister Yerlikaya warned citizens not to speed excessively and remind them that they should wear seat belts in their vehicles and buses. Calling for compliance with traffic rules, Yerlikaya said, “Plan your journeys to reunite with your loved ones, obeying traffic rules is important for the safety of all of us.” he said
