Ministry of Internal Affairs: Eid Holiday Traffic Information

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding traffic accidents that occurred on the eighth day of the holiday. Minister Yerlikaya stated that a total of 68 people have lost their lives since the day the holiday began.

According to the information shared by Minister Yerlikaya, 706 traffic accidents occurred on the eighth day of the holiday. In these accidents, 6 people died and 1,097 people were injured. In addition, it was stated that 405 thousand 88 vehicles were inspected, while the number of vehicles subjected to speed and radar operations was 22 thousand 975. Within the scope of other operations, 37 thousand 590 vehicles were intervened.

It was stated that 68 people lost their lives and 9 thousand 787 people were injured in total traffic accidents during the holiday. Minister Yerlikaya wished God’s mercy to those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured.

Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlikaya drew attention to the traffic density on the highways on the last day of the holiday and emphasized the need to comply with traffic rules. Stating that traffic police and Gendarmerie Traffic units continue their inspections 24 hours a day, Minister Yerlikaya warned drivers not to overspeed. He also touched upon the importance of using seat belts in vehicles and buses.

Finally, the Minister of Internal Affairs called for “Let’s obey the traffic rules and be careful.”
