Measures Taken by the Istanbul Governorship in Taksim and Istiklal Avenue

The Istanbul Governor’s Office announced that it has taken precautions against the unauthorized protest march and press release call planned to be held in the Taksim and Istiklal Street area today. The Governor’s Office has taken some measures to prevent the organization from announcing on social media.

Roads Closed to Vehicle Traffic

According to the statement made by the Governorship, as of 08:00, Taksim Square, Republic Monument, Gezi Park, Istiklal Avenue and its side streets, and Karaköy Square and its surroundings will be closed to vehicle traffic. Pedestrian traffic will be provided in a controlled manner.

Alternative Routes

Alternative routes determined at 10:00 are:

  • From Sıraselviler Street Hocazade Street intersection towards Taksim Square
  • Entrance and exit to Asmalı Mescit Street from Refik Saydam Street
  • Ensiz Street – First Municipality Street intersection
  • Intersection of Balo Street and Turnacıbaşı Street
  • Sadri Alışık Street and Atif Yılmaz Street

Pause Status at Metro Stations

Metro İstasyonlarındaki Duraklama Durumu

In accordance with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governorship, as of 10:00 today, the Taksim and Şişhane stations of the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line will be closed for operation. Metro vehicles will not stop at Taksim and Şişhane stations and will continue their services.
