Maduro Opposes WhatsApp

Maduro, WhatsApp'a Karşı Çıktı

Meeting with representatives of the fishing and agricultural sectors at the Miraflores Presidential Palace in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro made important assessments about the country’s agenda. Drawing attention to the influence of technology and social media platforms, Maduro said, “WhatsApp has handed over its user list in Venezuela to Colombian drug traffickers for espionage activities. This social media application is waging a psychological war. It threatens social leaders, soldiers, “police, artists and athletes who do not speak out in favor of coup and violence.”

Maduro suggested apps like WeChat and Telegram as alternatives for Venezuelans. “I advised people to voluntarily leave WhatsApp and move to other networks,” he said.

Maduro emphasized that despite economic embargoes and difficulties, Venezuela has achieved significant success in agricultural production, and that this situation shows the country’s resilience.

Maduro also took aim at the opposition coalition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez, saying, “He is a criminal and a fascist. Since the day of the elections, he sent a group of young people to stir up trouble, but he preferred to hide. He should “have gone when he was legally summoned by the Supreme Court, but he did not take the opportunity. Now he is in a worse situation than Guaido (former opposition leader Juan Guaido).”

President Maduro has accused right-wing groups in the country of attempting a “fascist coup” against Venezuela’s constitutional institutions.
