Landslide Risk and Driver Density in Bolu Mountain Tunnel

Bolu Dağı Tüneli'nde Heyelan Riski ve Sürücü Yoğunluğu

Due to landslide risk, works have been initiated to extend the tunnel tube by 67 meters at the Anatolian Highway Bolu Mountain Tunnel crossing. This situation causes drivers to be directed to the D-100 highway. Drivers who want to go in the direction of Istanbul experience congestion on the D-100 highway from time to time.

Before the tunnel was closed, the number of vehicles using the D-100 highway was around 10 thousand, but when the tunnel was closed, this number increased fourfold, reaching 40 thousand. The increasing vehicle density on the D-100 highway also affected the business volume of the steakhouse operators in the region, increasing by 100%. This situation shows that the closure of the tunnel benefits the tradesmen in the region.

‘The density is very good, but we can’t keep up with the work’

Grill master Sadık Sarı comments on the intensity as follows: “The intensity is great, we cannot keep up with the work. We are having difficulty finding staff. No one wants to work, especially the young ones. The work is difficult for gentlemen, but we keep going.”

‘Our Customers Eat With a View of Bolu Mountain and Are Satisfied’

Especially on Sundays, the traffic is quite high. us state here, they should not go on the road too much.”

‘We Had Dinner With a Great View’

Hasan Kartal, an expatriate who came to his hometown of Gaziantep for a holiday and started his journey back to Germany after the holiday, said, “There are no problems on the roads right now. We have not had any problems except for some drivers making “wrong overtakes on the roads. The air is cool. We had dinner with a wonderful view.”
