İZMİR – KESK İzmir Branches Platform made a statement about the fire that occurred between Diyarbakır’s Çınar and Mardin’s Mazıdağı districts and evaluated the causes and consequences of the painful incident.

It was emphasized that the regional municipalities and the public tried to intervene with their own means in the fire, in which 12 people lost their lives and 78 people were injured, but state institutions could not provide sufficient support. It was stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry should create effective intervention plans and be prepared.
Responsibilities of the State
It was emphasized that the fire between Diyarbakır and Mardin was not fate, and that the state institutions’ failure to make adequate preparations for rapid and effective intervention and the lack of coordination prevented such disasters from being prevented. It was stated that the government should cooperate with regional municipalities and mass organizations.
