While a 25 percent increase limit was applied in lease renewal periods for the last two years, this limit ended as of July 1. İzmir Real Estate Club Association President Rıdvan Akgün, who stated that the rent increase rate announced in July was around 65 percent, expressed that rental prices increased suddenly.

Akgün said, “A milestone began throughout Turkey on July 1st. The 25 percent rent increase continued for 2 years. Landlords were unhappy, tenants were happy. Two years passed quickly. Tenants have been faced with a 65.07 percent increase rate as of this month “There is desperation. Those who do not make the increase are trying to leave their homes. Those who cannot pay are trying to hold on to a new life.”

Akgün, who emphasized that tenants do not want to increase their rents too much all of a sudden, said that landlords who have been waiting for two years are also increasing the figures, and said, “Landlords say, ‘I have waited for two years .’ “They even want 07 out of 65.07 percent. Evictions may be on the agenda. Mediators and lawyers may participate in the process.”

‘THE DECIDENT OF THE SECTOR IS THE HOMEOWNERS’

Stating that rental prices have entered an inevitable upward trend in the summer months, Akgün said that rental apartments are gradually decreasing, and added, “There is no supply, demand is too much. People are either getting married or getting divorced. Tenants who have “Problems with their property owners are being evicted. There is serious circulation in the rental sector.”

‘YOU CAN GET A BANK LOAN, BUT YOU CANNOT RENT A HOUSE’

Akgün, who emphasized that landlords are very selective when looking for new tenants, said: “In the past, people would do everything they could to rent out their empty houses. Now we have come to a point where there are those who want GBT ( General Information Collection) There are those who want KKB (Credit Card Information). There are those who want research and a findeks report on whether people have financial debts to banks.
