Israeli tanks attacked the Al-Mavasi region in the west of Rafah with artillery shells. In a written statement made by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, it was stated that 25 Palestinians lost their lives and 50 Palestinians were injured as a result of the Israeli army bombing the tents of displaced Palestinians. Eyewitnesses also reported that Israeli army tanks bombed the areas where Palestinian tents were located in the Mevasi region, and a fire broke out in the tents.

MEVASİ WAS AMONG THE SAFE AREAS: The Mevasi region, extending to the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah, was among the “safe zones” where the Israeli army wanted the Palestinians forced to migrate. Divided into two regions, the part of Mevasi in Khan Yunus remains in the southwest of the city and extends to the vicinity of Deir el-Belah.

21 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE ATTACK ON MAY 28: The Israeli army continues to bomb Rafah despite the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stop the attacks. In the precautionary decisions taken on May 24, the UN’s judicial body, the ICJ, ruled that Israel should immediately stop its attacks on Rafah, not block humanitarian aid, and allow UN officials to enter Gaza to investigate its crimes. On May 28, 21 people were killed and 64 people were injured in the Israeli army’s attack targeting tents in Mevasi, where forcibly displaced Palestinians were located in the city of Rafah and which it had previously claimed was “safe”.
