Israel has released Palestinian journalist Muaz Amarneh after nearly 10 months of detention. He was released on October 16 at the Al-Zahiriyya checkpoint near the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
Following his release, Amarne’s uncle’s son Esid Amarne said in a statement that Muaz had been held in prison for more than nine months without being charged and that his health was poor. The journalist expressed concern that Amarne may have contracted skin diseases in prison.
Muaz Amarne had an artificial eye implanted after being shot by Israeli forces in 2019. It was noted that his eye was removed after his release. It was stated that Amarne was taken to the hospital for health checks after his release.
