The missile attack on Saturday evening on the Druze-majority Magdal Shams region of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights has increased tensions in the region. Israel claims that the attack was carried out by Hezbollah, which Hezbollah denies.

Israeli officials said there was some aircraft activity in the skies over Lebanon in response to the attack. Israeli aircraft targeted parts of Lebanon. The United Nations and regional countries called on the parties to exercise restraint and draw attention to the danger of a large-scale conflict in the region.

Following the last full-scale war in 2006, a UN peacekeeping force was deployed in the region. UNIFIL called on the parties to exercise maximum restraint and demanded an end to the fighting.

Lebanese airlines have taken precautions against possible attacks and postponed some flights. In Israel, there have been calls for revenge. The Israeli Foreign Minister and other officials have made strong statements, stating that they are prepared for a full-scale war against Lebanon.

In statements made by Iran, it was emphasized that the consequences of possible attacks by Israel would be unpredictable. Hezbollah, on the other hand, announced that it would take counter-measures, claiming that Israel wanted to sow discord in the region.
